Davidoff Oro Blanco

The first vintage cigar for Davidoff, the Oro Blanco was created by Davidoff blender Eladio Diaz after watching the sunset in the city of Mao in the northwestern area of the Dominican Republic. “In my moment, I was inspired to craft a unique tobacco blend that would represent my sincere gratitude for mother nature and the beautiful moment I experienced in that place… a moment so rare.” The Oro Blanco was crafted with the exceptional tobacco of the 2000-2001 harvest that was aged for 12 years, then further aged the finished cigars for another year. Diaz not only oversees the rolling, he looks over the entire process. The tobacco is left in processing until Diaz deems it ready, the cigars are then rolled under his watch and left in aging until he thinks they are ready. Davidoff says that cigars cannot ship to retailers until Diaz signs off of them. These come packaged in exquisitely crafted coffin boxes.

Davidoff Chefs Edition

The Davidoff Chefs Edition is the equivalent to a culinary masterpiece. Just like the perfect meal, it begins gently with complex layers of subtle flavours and builds up to a sublime and unforgettable crescendo. The wrapper is oily and smooth and everything about it, from its flawless composition to its elegant colour, whets the appetite for the cigar’s initial aromas, both nutty and sweet. The flavours become richer and more uplifting in the second third, with hints of citrus, bloomy fruit, sweet corn, and a refined aftertaste that is both oily and creamy. In the last third, the cigar’s beauty and vitality erupt into an intense, peppery yet meltingly sweet and gratifying Grand Finale, just as a gastronomic experience is crowned by a superb dessert.

Davidoff 2013 “Year of the Snake”

At the start of the Chinese Year of the Snake (February 10, 2013), Davidoff launched the 2013 “Year of the Snake”. In the Chinese calendar, the sixth of the twelve Chinese signs of the zodiac is characterised as wise and graceful. The Snake is the quintessential symbol for intelligence and profundity. Particularly delicate and fine when depicted in a figure of eight, it has become one of the most popular decorations in all of Asia, not only for its unique symmetry but also because it carries the promise of infinity, material prosperity and luck. It is said that Snake-people like to possess the finer things in life.

Premium cigar brand Davidoff is also synonymous with luxury and the total “crop to shop” concept. “Year of the Snake” is, therefore, not only the unusual name given to the new limited edition, but also the connection of quintessential wisdom and stylish quality awareness with Davidoff.

Integrating these characteristics into an aroma represents a challenge for the Davidoff Master Blender: namely, to combine particularly old tobaccos to successfully create three layers of flavour – from floral nuances reminiscent of honey, to caramel, and finally to peppery notes of wood or nut, whilst also providing a captivating quality…. highly aromatic, with light-medium strength and Cuban thickness, the cigar develops a charming creaminess due to the Ecuadorian binder. The impressive Churchill format makes for a long smoking experience punctuated with the delicacy and refinement of a cigar with charisma. The octagonal, red lacquered wooden box containing eight cigars will provide pleasure in the coming year.

The cultural background of this 2013 “Year of the Snake” Edition is every bit as fascinating as its aesthetic appearance: The “White Snake Story”, the Chinese love story still extremely popular today, can trace its origins back to a legend from the Ming dynasty (1368 AD) and, amongst other things, has inspired Davidoff’s new cigar – a cigar that preserves its cultural heritage whilst using passion and attention to detail to unlock the spirit of a dynamic, global environment . Those who fall in love with this cigar have no sense of superficiality. The fine, profound 2013 “Year of the Snake” Edition is for aficionados who smoke intelligently. The uniqueness of this luxurious edition with a double ring speaks for itself. It is limited to 4,500 pieces.

CAO Pilón

The CAO Pilón draws from the common name for large piles of tobacco undergoing fermentation, and while modern day pilónes can be quite large and rectangular, pilónes of yore were much smaller, and in this case, round. The artisans at CAO meticulously configured the leaves in this classic circular pattern to maximize their flavour and colour in a method similar to the that of the original Cuban method dating back to the 19th century.

CAO Amazon Basin

CAO Amazon Basin tastes as exotic as the tropical rainforest from which it originated. Grown in a remote region in the Amazon Rainforest, CAO Amazon Basin uses a rare tobacco called Bragança that is organically grown on unspoiled tropical land and harvested only once every three years. The Braganca leaf is thoughtfully surrounded by tobaccos from five different countries, giving you a smoking experience unlike any other.

Padrón 50th Anniversary Limited Edition Maduro

The Padrón 50th Anniversary Limited Edition was one of the most talked about releases at the 2014 IPCPR and was a release of just 1,000 humidors, each containing 50 cigars, with the former designed by the noted designer Nelson Alfonso and made by Golden Age. Each humidor and cigar is individually numbered, so much so that each humidor indicates which cigars are inside. Purchasers of the humidor are also getting a special treat, as they will be able to refill their humidor up to five times. The company has set up a special website for owners to register their humidor and when another batch is produced, those individuals will be notified and they will be able to purchase 50 more cigars through the store which the original humidor was purchased. In addition, rights to those cigars are transferable should someone sell their humidor or otherwise need to transfer it. Dunhill Signed Range Selección Suprema

There is perhaps no more impressive collection of cigars under one name than Dunhill’s Selección Suprema.

The line came about in 1935 when Dunhill, the legendary British retailer, asked Cándido Vega Díaz—a man who once owned the El Rey del Mundo brand—to make a special cigar for the store. That cigar was the Don Candido and it began the Selección Suprema line.

2015 marked the 80th anniversary of the Don Candido and Dunhill decided to celebrate with a special limited edition. It combined the Signed Range name, Dunhill’s most noted modern line, and Selección Suprema. The cigar is produced in the Dominican Republic by General Cigar Dominicana using a shade-grown wrapper from Jalapa, Nicaraguan, broadleaf binder and Brazilian and Nicaraguan fillers.

Santa Damiana Vintage Maduro

This series represents an extension of the classic, yellow Santa Damiana . The dark, almost black Maduros have been getting more and more popular every year. Maduro stands for ” matured ” in Spanish and refers to the particularly long process of fermentation and ageing.

For these cigars, a silky, dark, & rich sun-grown Connecticut Broadleaf  wrapper is used. These leaves are slightly thicker and are therefore particularly well suited for this longer maturation.

The binder for the Santa Damiana Vintage Maduro comes from Ecuador and the filler from Nicaragua, Peru, & the Dominican Republic. This cigar offers a full-bodied , complex smoking experience with sweetish notes and a uniquely rich taste.

Pura Sangre Edición 2012

When Ventura Cigar Company announced the release of the Pura Sangre Edición 2012 in April 2013, it was heralded as being “the end of the beginning.” The name is a nod to the fact that Pura Sangre is a Nicaraguan puro made by Nestor Plasencia in Nicaragua.

Included in every box of the Pura Sangre Edición 2012 is a note that explains a bit of the history of the cigar and the place it comes from:

At the beginning of time, Teotihuacan was bare land and the mountains were only stone. Then Akna, the daughter of the gods gave birth to the hero twins, Hunaphu and Xblanqe, brought down the waters and gave life to the earth.

They created the corn and brought forth tobacco, and this is the Pura Sangre—the pure blood—that flows through us all today. Throughout time, sacred tobacco was reserved for holy rituals, smoked in pipes and great si’kars as they were called a thousand years ago.

The cigar you hold in your hand, Pura Sangre Limited Edición 2012, comes from the fertile fields of modern day Nicaragua. Pura Sangre is the personal favorite of blend of Nestor Plasencia. With his permission and only for this limited edition, we added an extra leaf of Ligero and then crate-aged the run for 365 days, giving the cigar extraordinary body and consistency.

Only 12,000 cigars were made, and you are one of the very few to have a chance to appreciate Edición 2012.

Today you taste history. Today you taste legend. Today you taste greatness.

Manuel Quesada 70 (MQ70)

The Quesada story cannot be adequately told in brief paragraphs. It is one of both tremendous success and accomplishment as well as of profound tragedy and sadness. Following the seizure of their property and subsequent exile from Cuba, the family opened a tobacco brokerage in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1961. Then 13-years old, Manolo Quesada was sent to Miami to complete high school. During these years, he was also given United States citizenship and was promptly drafted into service for the Vietnam war. MATASA was established in 1974 with “$100, a chair, and a phone,” employing just three rollers. From there growth continued unabated and a new management was assembled which included general manager Julio Fajardo, Manolo’s brother Alvaro, and his nephew Alvarito. Unfortunately, in April 2002 a plane crash took the lives of all three, leaving Manolo to run the company. Today, Quesada Cigars is managed with fierce enthusiasm by Manolo, daughter Raquel, niece Esther and nephews Hostos & Terence.

Manolo turns 70 on April 10. In honour of this milestone, he created a blend for his own personal tastes. There was no blending panel, no tasting focus group – just Manolo himself making a cigar for himself – but available to the public. With this blend, he proves why he is a legend and a master craftsman. Known colloquially as MQ70, they were premiered just weeks ago during the ProCigar festival and anyone that had the pleasure of one of these beauties will tell you they completely stole the show.

The Manuel Quesada 70 is limited to 1,000 boxes of 10 cigars in each size.
